Blessing Through Obedience

Scripture: Luke 17:

11Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy[a]met him. They stood at a distance 13and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"

14When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.

Observation: We receive blessings while in the midst of obedience.

Application: These men were told by Jesus to Go and show themselves to the priests, but at the time that they were told this they were not healed.  They still had the dreaded leprosy all over their bodies. It was while they were going that they were healed.  Sometimes we must act as if the blessing has already happened before it can manifest itself in our lives.

I remember praying for an elderly man one day at the alter so that he might be able to walk better and without pain.  A few weeks later I was visiting with him and he told me that he had not been healed as he hoped, but that he had learned an important lesson through the experience of the prayer.  He said “I came up there for healing prayer, and we prayed and believed in it, then I got back up and took my walker and went back to my seat.  I should have never picked up that walker again, I should have went back as if I had already been healed.”  At the time when we said the prayer I hadn’t thought about this as being a lack of faith on his part but God had been dealing with him about this very concept.  If you are praying for a healing, speak and act as if you are healed, and believe it is so.  Whatever we speak with our mouths and believe in our hearts will be manifested in our lives.

You faith need only be strong enough for you to walk in it, God will manifest the evidence of that hope which is not yet seen.  Even though everything around you tells you that it is one way, God can change things!

Today in church a dear lady of God testified of how her pain with lupus had been defeated even though all the tests which the doctors had run on her indicated she should have been suffering.  What is impossible for us – is possible for God.  He who is IN you is greater than the world outside of you.

Prayer: Father Almighty,

Thank you for the power of faith.  Grant me the anointing of Your Spirit and increase my faith through the signs and wonders that manifest through your power.  Be with us all and help us to walk not by the sight of our eyes, but by the faith of our hearts.

Love Michael

Special Announcement – – NOTICE NOTICE NOTICE

Yesterday’s Journal entry Teach Me Something New Lord was my 365th.  I have now completed reading the OT once and the NT twice, as well as Revelation, John, and Luke three times within the last year.  I’ve written a journal every day about my reflections on the scriptures and I have to tell you that it has been such a blessing for me.  I admit that some days it has been difficult to get the journal out.  Some of them have been good, and some of them not so good.  If you have followed me regularly I’m sure that you have agreed with me at times, and disagreed with me at other times.

My goal for this journal was to do it for a full year, and I have accomplished that.  I will be taking a break for a while from doing journals every day. I will not be completely letting go of this practice, but I will be more relaxed with it for a while now.

I plan on picking up the practice again and going through another year soon, but I am going to look for another reading plan, perhaps I’ll find a good year long Bible that I like, or I may just run up on a different plan.  I really have enjoyed the Life Journal program but I’m ready for something new.

If you check my journal daily, or regularly let me first say Thank You SO Much for your Love and Support!  If you should check in and find that I have not posted anything new on any particular day, you can always go back through my archives and find that there is an entry for every day of the year.

And finally, I really want to encourage you to try this for yourself.  Being in the scriptures every day and having to reflect on them and think about them has really made a positive difference for me and brought me into a closer relationship with God.  You have to try it to know what I mean!  You may not want to make a webpage as I have, but even doing the reflective writings in a personal journal has the same effect, and may be for you or your family a treasured keepsake for generations to come.

If you want to follow the Life Journal reading plan that I have, here is a handy link that you should bookmark.  Life Journal Daily Reading   You can also order paper journals from their website at www.lifejournal.cc

I have also used Bible Gateway extensively this year and it is an incredibly valuable tool that I highly recommend.

I also encourage you to look at the links I’ve got posted here, they are all pointing to wonderful tools, and or great people!

Again I thank you for you being with me on this journey!  And even though I may be slowing down a bit, the journey that we share together is not over!

Keep Checking Back!

Love extravagantly, Prayer earnestly, Study diligently, and listen always for the voice of God which is all around you!

God Bless You!

Pastor Michael

You might like to consider the Daily Bible, In Chronological Order. It eliminates the repetitions that occur, and so the entire Bible is read in 365 days in a logical and concise manner. Thanks for sharing your journal with us!
