Scripture: Matthew 9:
27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"
28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?"
"Yes, Lord," they replied.
29 Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith let it be done to you"
Observation: Your Faith drives the experiences of your life.
Application: Have you ever woke up on the wrong side of the bed? Which side is the "wrong side" anyway? It’s whatever side you say it is. I know it’s only a figure of speech and we’re not talking about which physical side of the bed you get up on. But lets put it in some real terms. Lets say you get up and go to the bathroom first thing every morning, as you’re getting out of bed and you’re still disoriented you stumble and hit your foot against the dresser. You shake off the pain in your foot and stagger to the bathroom only to find that the toothpaste tube is empty and there is no hot water. After finishing up as best you can, you go to make yourself some breakfast and as you’re reaching into the cabinet you accidentally break your favorite coffee cup. Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed? Is it going to be one of those days? Only if you say so, and only if that’s what you believe.
These two blind men had not only got up on the wrong side of the bed, they had been born under a bad sign. Their whole lives seemed to be one of those days, but when they saw Jesus they began to turn it around because they believed that he would heal them and that their lives would turn around.
I don’t know what kind of morning you had, I don’t know what kind of day you think your having, but I do know that whatever you have faith in, whatever you believe in, that is what you’re going to see manifested in your life today.
So it’s a simple matter of attitude. You may not be able to control everything that is happening around you, and you may not be able to change certain circumstances that you are going to face today, but what you can change is how you react to them and how you respond to others in your life. Jesus is there for you, just as He was for those blind men, He is able to make a difference for you if you believe He can and put your faith in Him.
Prayer: Father Almighty,
Thank you for the beautiful teachings on faith that Jesus gave us. Help me to put my faith into something positive and useful today. Let me not be governed by what happens to me, but help me to make an impact on my life by having faith in the power within me.
