 Scripture: Matthew 4:

17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near."

Matthew 1,2,3,4 – Passage Lookup – Today’s New International Version – BibleGateway.com

Observation: You are greatly blessed and highly favored because you have the opportunity to experience the kingdom of heaven today.

Application: Some see this scripture and think about end times theologies, interpreting the meaning as an apocalyptic message.  I think what John, and Jesus were saying is that the kingdom of heaven is much closer than you might think.  I like the way the KJV puts this "The Kingdom of Heaven is At Hand."

The kingdom of heaven, is a place where God is.  The kingdom is where we aspire to be.  We sing of going there "Some glad morning when this life is over."  But I think the message that Jesus begins with in his earthly ministry is one of experiencing the kingdom now in this life, of touching God where we are and seeing God as active now within our own circumstances.

What is it that you are facing today?  No matter what it is, God is near, the kingdom of heaven is at hand.  Reach out in faith and experience The Father, fellowship with The Son, and feel the presence of The Holy Spirit.  You are greatly blessed and highly favored.

Prayer:  God who is here,

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to experience your life within this life.  Thank you for the knowledge and hope that this life which I am experiencing now in a mortal body, will not end when this temporary abode fades away.  Grant me the serenity and peace of your presence and the comfort and strength of your spirit to assist me in growing closer to you now.

Love Michael
