The Shepherd

 Scripture: Luke 15:

4 "Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Observation: Jesus is seeking the lost, and we should be doing the same.

Application: A Shepherd watches over his flock of one hundred fold,

He guards them through the night, so long and cold.

He counted ninety-nine, then he counted again real slow.

One little lamb was lost so he must go.

He left the ninety-nine, to find the one that was lost,

He healed his broken body with his gentle hands.

He left the ninety-nine to find that one lost lamb,

And Praise The Lord for here I am.

I recall the story of a woman, seeking water from the well,

when Jesus came along and touched her soul,

and though she was a sinner, He set her spirit free,

and said go my child, and sin no more.

When I think about my life, and what I’m supposed to be,

I know that sometimes I fall short.

I pray to my Lord Jesus – to set my spirit free,

and to bring me once again into the fold.

He left the ninety-nine, to find the one that was lost,

He healed his broken body with his gentle hands.

He left the ninety-nine to find that one lost lamb,

And Praise The Lord for here I am.

Prayer: Lord God Almighty, Holy Shepherd of The Flock,

Please help me to seek out the lost sheep and to lead them back to you.  And when I go astray dear Lord, come and find me and carry me home again.

Love Michael
