Scripture: Psalms 46:
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
Observation: The world can not throw anything at us that we can’t handle because we have God on our side.
Application: Sometimes it seems like the world is crumbling around us. When it rains it pours. If its not one thing, its two dozen others. But no matter what comes our way we need not fear, for as the Psalmist says, even if the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the sea – God is with us, and is there to help us.
We all face difficulties in life, its part of what life is and its part of our spiritual development to go through those hard times. If we try to go alone, we are as the chaff that the Bible speaks of, we are driven away by the winds of adversity but the godly are not so, but have the substance of God’s spirit to help us remain grounded through the troubles.
Thank you for your love and grace, thank you for your presence with me. Help me to realize that no matter what trouble I face in life, that you never abandon me and are always there as an ever-present help.
