God’s 911 Emergency

Psalm 91

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Observation: If we live in God’s jurisdiction we need not worry about being tossed about by an enemy, the Lord’s response time to our call is immediate!

Application: Have you ever lived in a place where you felt so confident in not only the people you lived around, but also in the protection of the local police force that you didn’t even feel it necessary to lock your doors at night?  Have you ever been to a town where you could confidently pull into the biggest shopping center around and leave the keys in the car without fear?  I would venture to say most of us haven’t experienced that kind of comfort and security in our daily lives.  Living in the south, I’ve been in some places that were pretty close – but there is always that little bit of worry in the back of your mind, even in the Andy Griffith type towns.

But if we move from the physical to the spiritual, there is a place where Children of God can feel totally secure and confident.  It is in the shelter of the Most High that we are completely protected.  But how do we get there?  It’s not that hard, I think that living in God’s jurisdiction and under his protection is as simple as putting our whole trust in Him.  So that whenever we run into one of those trials or troubles of life, we can look to Heaven in confident expectation that The Living God is with us and that nothing by any means shall harm us.

As Christ was tempted in the wilderness, the Devil used part of this chapter to try and get him to test God by throwing himself from the highest point of the temple.  Christ was not tempted to put God to the test, but was confident enough in God’s ultimate protection that he went to the cross on our behalf because he knew it to be the will of the Father.

Are you feeling a little overwhelmed by the winds and waves of the world my friend?  Try calling God’s 911 emergency by remembering this verse and claim it in faith as your own protection.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Prayer:  Almighty Father,

Thank you for your protective eye that is ever on me.  Guide me Lord that I may serve you in all that ever I do.  Help me to lean on you even when it seems that the whole world is against me, grant me the strength and faith to know that you will never abandon me and that you are always at my side.

Love Michael
