The mighty hand before us!

Scripture: Psalm 72: 10 While Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to engage Israel in battle. But that day the LORD thundered with loud thunder against the Philistines and threw them into such a panic that they were routed before the Israelites. 11The men of Israel rushed out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, slaughtering them along the way to a point below Beth Car.

Observation: God goes before us in the battle.

Application: We go through very difficult times in the course of our journey through this life, we all suffer trials and temptations, heart-aches and pain.  But I am convinced that God is there in everything that we go through and that he has often been working before us to soften the outcomes, to make it so that we could bear it.  The Old Testament often gives us physical examples of things that are confirmed as spiritual truths in the New Testament, and I think our scripture today is one of those things.

The Israelites were carried through this battle, God went before them and threw their enemies into a panic so that it was an easy victory.  1 cor 10:13 says that God will not allow us to suffer more than we can bear, and that He will with each temptation make a way for us to be able to bear it.

If you feel like you’re fighting a spiritual battle and you are at the verge of breaking, don’t give up!  You can claim this promise right now and look for God to deliver you.  He will go before you and set your enemy to flight. If God is with us, there is no one or no thing that can ever be victorious as it stands against us.

Prayer: Heavenly Father,

I pray for all my family and friends, and also any who read these words that are facing difficult times in their lives.  I don’t know what battles they may be fighting.  But I do know that you are watching over them, because you love them.  Whoever they are and whatever they are facing, you loved them enough to bring them to this moment of prayer and devotion, and I claim now a victory for them in their current struggle, I claim now that you WILL deliver, set free, heal, and turn the enemy on his heals before them.  I thank you for what is going to happen today because of the faithfulness of our hearts, and because of your great mercy and strength.  May it all be always and forever for your glory and honor.  In Christ name.

Amen.

Yield:  I give up hopelessness in any situation I may face, because with God looking out for me, I am never without hope.
