Scripture 1 Corinthians 2
6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived—
these things God has prepared for those who love him” —
The wisdom of this world has been corrupted by the fallen nature of humanity. We must seek to understand the wisdom of God, and count it of much higher value than the wisdom of the world.
The enemy knows the scripture and the prophecies concerning Christ and has been preparing arguments against His truth since long before the birth of Christ. The adversary has throughout time tried to thwart the plans of God.
When the devil realized that God’s plan would be realized through mankind he tempted eve in the garden. When he understood that Abraham would be the beginning of the nation out of which He (Christ) would arise, the devil placed doubt in Abraham and Sarah’s hearts and thus came Ishmael. When Jesus came he tempted him in the wilderness, but Christ withstood the trials.
And today the god of this world our adversary the devil uses the knowledge of man to argue the truths of YHWH. We set ourselves up as higher than God, more learned and wise than He, We say that the scriptures and the teachings of Jesus are ancient and outdated, they need to be revised to fit our modern day.
It is the wisdom of this age which is coming to nothing.
Let us “declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.”
My soul wretches as I realize how guilty of this I have been in times past. I have turned to the wisdom of the world before and above that of God’s leading and Spirit as He speaks through the scriptures and through those I kNOW to be His servants and messengers. I am broken in my wisdom, I am poured out like water before the Lord God Almighty. I will reach up to Him and learn from Him as His Spirit teaches and leads.
Lead me away from the wisdom of this age and the rulers of this world. Teach me Oh God to trust in you and your Spirit. Help me to seek and value your truth above the deceptions of man.
My wisdom and knowledge are nothing when compared to the Cross of Christ and the truth of God’s grace.
