Scripture Mark 15 :38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. 39 And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!”
Jesus removed the barrier between God and Man.
In the Jewish Temple a veil separated the Holy of Hollies, which is the earthly dwelling place of God’s presence, from the rest of the Temple where men were. This was a symbol of the results of Sin in Man’s relationship to The Heavenly Father. Sin separates us from God, and the veil stood in between the presence of God and sinful man.
On the Cross when Christ died, the payment for the sins of the world was made in full, and the separation of God and Man was broken. Christs death, destroyed the barrier that kept us from being able to enjoy a fellowship and relationship with the Father. Before then, it was only through obedient faith, and regular blood sacrifice that man was even able to approach God, and only then by a representative who had been thoroughly cleansed and properly sanctified for the task of approaching the most Holy place.
But praise God for now the veil is gone, and we can enter the presence of the Father with boldness, and gladness, and joy. Not because of our own righteousness, but because of the right standing with God that has been imputed upon us through our savior, His Son, Jesus.
Lord, I thank you that you have made it so that we can once again have relationship with you, I thank you that you provided what we could not provide for ourselves. In that all the work and sacrifices that we ever made or brought before you were nowhere near enough to bring us into your presence. You Oh Lord, have come down for us and accomplished the task of making that relationship once again possible. I thank you that the veil of the temple was rent in twain as Christ paid the price and won the victory for us on the cross. Help me to draw closer to you every day, and to enjoy the relationship that you have made possible for me
I give up my reliance on self, and depend totally upon the relationship I have with you God.
