The priestly blessing

Scripture Numbers6 ;

 22 The LORD said to Moses, 23 “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:

 24 ” ‘ “The LORD bless you
       and keep you;

 25 the LORD make his face shine upon you
       and be gracious to you;

 26 the LORD turn his face toward you
       and give you peace.” ‘

27 “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

As we bless one another God’s attention is turned on us and we are blessed.

This is the first blessing I ever memorized, and I use it after serving communion as a benediction blessing.  This scripture was found on a talisman that was worn around the neck of an ancient Levite priest and may be the oldest item that archeology has ever found containing scripture – predating even our most ancient manuscripts.

We as Christians are ALL Priests and Kings According to Revelation Chapter 5:10, and it is our job to Bless the People of God and who is that?  Everyone of course – Who is our Neighbor?  When Jesus was asked that question He told the story of the “good Samaritan” which we are so farmiliar with.  So the answer is – all those who are in need – all those who are lost – all those who are hurting and in pain.  Those are God’s Children, those are our neighbors – think of John 3:16 – For God so loved the what?   The WORLD!  Not just one part of the world, not just those who have the same beliefs as I do, or come from the same area.  ALL of the World belongs to God – and all the people of the world are His!

So Christians – we are to bless God’s people – we are to show them His love and pray for them, we are to turn their attention toward Him.

Don’t neglect your duties Church – Be a Blessing!  And by doing so – you also will be blessed by our Heavenly Father.

Father help me to bless your people.  Give me the courage, strength and wisdom to lead your people to a deeper fellowship and commitment to you.

Love Michael

I yield the idea that I am only here to bless certain people.  It is my job as a Priest of God (Christian) to bless all of God’s people.
