Scripture Acts 15
1Some men came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the brothers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.” 2This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question. 3The church sent them on their way, and as they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles had been converted. This news made all the brothers very glad. 4When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything God had done through them.
Religious people sometimes feel the need to judge others.
It has never been my intention to be a religious person. There are too many negative connotations associated with that term “religious.” Instead of religious, I hope that we strive to be spiritually minded people, people of faith and trust in God, people who have a relationship with God.
Whenever we start saying – “You need to do this, or that, or stop doing this or that or you can’t make it to heaven.” We are then putting ourselves in the place of judge. And there is only one who is worthy of judgement and that is God. Only God can tell whether a person has been sincere in their faith, ony He can save, and at the same time only He can say whether or not a person is unsaved.
Our job is not to judge whether or not people are saved or not. That is between them and God! Yes we are to spread the word, yes we are to teach and preach and baptize, but don’t fall into the trap of saying – “because you don’t know what I know, you’re not saved”, or “because you don’t believe as I do you’re not saved.”
You are not appointed to be judge of the soul of mankind, you are appointed and commisioned to be workers in the field. Let God be the judge of a person’s heart and soul, all you need to do is love them, and throw a few seeds around when you’re able to.
Father, forgive me of my trespasses as I forgive those who tresspass against me. Help me to forgive and forget, to love and pray for, to do go to and be gentle and kind, lavish in mercy and grace, and always ready to guide and point toward you!
I Yield any ideas that I am smart enough, or good enough, to be able to judge the condition of another persons heart or soul.
