Scripture Acts 12
5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.
6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.
When the people of God start praying, amazing things start happening.
During my 11+ years as a Pastor, I have seen some amazing things happen as the result of prayer. I have seen tumors miraculously vanish, I have witnessed many different sicknesses cured, I have watched peoples faces as their hearts suddenly changed. One thing that is for sure is that earnest prayer makes a difference.
And it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with how much a person goes to Church, or reads their Bibles, or what denomination they are, it is a matter of faith, and faith alone.
But we have to pray with faith, and honesty of spirit. Im not talking about reciting the same old prayer you say every night before falling asleep – those prayers are ok, and I do those to – but a prayer of faith and honesty comes from a deeper place. It’s one of those groaning kind of prayers, when you don’t even know what to ask God for, but you’re just there saying…. LORD!!! LORD!!! LORD!!! Do you know what I mean? Can I get an Amen?!?! Yeah – I knew you could relate.
We’ve all been there, and chances are good if you’re still breathing that we will be there again sometime. So just take comfort in knowing that God hears and understands during those LORD LORD LORD times.
Im not going to tell you that every prayer that you pray with faith and honesty of spirit is going to be answered in the way that you are hoping. Sometimes things don’t work out the way we expect them to. But I will tell you, that every prayer you pray in faith with honesty of spirit is heard by our Heavenly Father – and prayers like that are never ignored. So keep praying, and keep asking God to have his way in the situations you’re facing. And have faith – and take heart, because God is listening to you… right …. now…
LORD!!! LORD!!! LORD!!!!
I turn over my situations that I am struggling with, and accept that God is in control, and will bring them to a conclusion that is benificial to His purpose and will.
