Scripture: Hebrews 2:
14-15 Since the children are made of flesh and blood, it’s logical that the Savior took on flesh and blood in order to rescue them by his death. By embracing death, taking it into himself, he destroyed the Devil’s hold on death and freed all who cower through life, scared to death of death.
Observation: Because of what Jesus did for us, we don’t have to fear physical death.
Application: What a wonderful thing Christ has done for us; by defeating the power of death, He brought us into the glorious union with God that we experience through The Holy Spirit, and secured for us a position of honor in the eternal realms beyond the physical life. Even though most Christians have this knowledge and believe that when we die we are united with God we still seem to fear death, and grieve for loved ones when they pass on. I know that it’s a natural thing for us to miss the physical presence of someone who has passed on, but there is nothing to fear, and nothing to grieve for.
We are spiritual beings and we are eternal. Living in the physical life is like being in a room with no windows, and a one way door out. We can’t see outside of the room we’re in, but we know there is something outside, we understand that the room which we are currently in is not all that there is. Jesus joined us in that room, but he was able to go out of the door and come back in again. Because of his sacrifice, he was able to open the door and show us what lies beyond. He was able to teach us that there are many rooms in The Father’s mansion and that there is a place prepared for us on the other side. There is no need to fear physical death, because Jesus is waiting on the other side of the door.
Prayer: Father of life,
I thank you that beyond this world lies a closer fellowship with you. I thank you that there is more beyond this world of pain and sorrow. Please increase my faith in what lies beyond, and help me to never fear going through the door of physical death by continually reminding me that you are on the other side.
Love Michael
Yield: I surrender fears of physical death.
